Paying yearly saves up to 36% over monthly billing, according to the pricing page. Eligible yearly website plans also come with a free custom domain for the first year, and you can try any plan free for 14 days before paying.

What changes between the plans

  • Team access. Basic allows 2 contributors. Core and higher plans allow unlimited contributors.
  • Selling online. Basic charges a 2% Squarespace fee on online store transactions. Card rates start at 2.9% + $0.30 on Basic and Core, 2.7% + $0.30 on Plus and 2.5% + $0.30 on Advanced.
  • Email. Core and higher plans include one free year of professional email from Google Workspace.
  • AI credits. Basic includes 10 one-time credits. Core includes 20 a month, Plus 40 a month, and Advanced 120 a month.

What a full year costs on each plan

Based on the figures captured on 4 November 2026, the monthly prices on the pricing page total these amounts over a year. With yearly billing, Basic costs $228, Core $348, Plus $588 and Advanced $1,188. With monthly billing, those plans cost $300, $468, $780 and $1,668. Over twelve months, monthly billing therefore costs $72 more for Basic, $120 more for Core, $192 more for Plus and $480 more for Advanced.

The custom domain is free with yearly plans for the first year only. Squarespace says domains registered through the offer renew at its standard rate, plus applicable taxes, after that year, so include the renewal in your second-year budget.

Which Squarespace plan should you choose?

  • A portfolio, blog or simple business site that does not sell online: Basic is enough.
  • A service business or a small shop: Core removes the 2% store fee and includes unlimited contributors. With yearly billing, Basic costs $19 a month and Core costs $29, a $10 monthly difference. When online sales exceed about $500 a month, Basic’s 2% fee costs more than the difference.
  • A growing store: Plus reduces card rates to 2.7% + $0.30.
  • A high-volume store: Advanced has the lowest card rate on the page, 2.5% + $0.30, and the most AI credits, 120 a month.

Squarespace has no free plan, only a 14-day trial, so the guide to the Wix free plan is the closest comparison. How to build a website from scratch covers the full process, and the Squarespace hub includes our other Squarespace guides.
