What we collect
- Server logs. As with nearly all websites, our web server logs basic information about each request: your IP address, the page you requested, the date and time, your browser type, and the page that referred you. We use these logs to keep the site working and secure.
- Messages you send. When you email us, we receive your email address and anything you choose to include in your message.
You can use the site without an account, and our pages have no forms that collect personal details.
How we use it
We use server logs to keep the site available, fix errors, and guard against abuse. We use your messages only to respond to you and, if you report an error, to correct a guide. We do not sell personal information or buy data about you from anyone else.
Cookies and analytics
nvudev does not set cookies or use an analytics service right now. Pages work the same whether or not you block cookies.
If we add analytics later, we will pick an option that respects privacy and update this page before it launches.
Google Fonts
The site gets its fonts from Google Fonts. When your browser requests a font, Google receives your IP address and basic browser information, just as it does with any web request. Google describes how it handles this in its Google Fonts privacy FAQ and the Google privacy policy.
Advertising
The site does not show ads today. As our funding plan explains, we plan to add Google ads when the site reaches about 10,000 readers a month, so it can cover its running costs.
Before showing any ads, we will update this policy to explain how Google and its partners use cookies to display and measure ads, and how you can opt out. Where the law requires consent, including in the EU and the UK, we will ask first.
Who else is involved
- Our hosting provider, which operates the web server and stores its logs for us.
- Google, which provides the fonts used on this site, as noted above.
- Our email provider, which keeps the messages you send us.
Links to other websites lead to services outside our control, which are covered by their own privacy policies.
How long we keep it
Server logs are retained for a limited time for security and troubleshooting, then removed. Emails are kept only while we need them to respond to you or maintain a record of a correction. You may ask us to delete your messages at any time.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to learn what personal information we have about you, receive a copy, correct it, have it deleted, and object to its use. To exercise any of these rights, email contact@nvudev.com with "Privacy request" in the subject line. We may need to verify your identity before we act on a request.
California residents have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as explained by the California Attorney General. We do not sell or share personal information as defined by that law. Readers in the EU and the UK have similar rights under the GDPR.
Children
nvudev is intended for adults and is not aimed at children under 13. We do not knowingly gather personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal details, contact us and we will remove them.
Changes to this policy
We will revise this page whenever our data handling changes, and the date at the top indicates the latest version.
