Nvu is an open source, ysiwyg, Web authoring system. The Guide is written in the hope that it will both prove useful for new users and act as a reference guide for those more experienced.

References are gradually being integrated into individual sections so
this appendix will eventually disappear.

What the 'charset' parameter means and does. How character encodings differ. What the Universal Character Set used by web pages is. How to get the best out of Unicode fonts. Also something about setting encoding options for Advanced properties on the preferences of the tools menu.
